Services are required from 19 May 2025 through 5 September 2025, with the base period covering the 2025 summer season (approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day). Applicants must be 18+ years old.

So, what will the Lifeguard at Terrestris do?

Whiteman Air Force Base operates an outdoor pool to support the morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) program for active-duty military members, their families, retirees, and DoD civilians. The pool operates seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Lifeguard services are essential to ensure the safety of all patrons during open swim hours, private functions, and instructional swim classes. As the Lifeguard for the Whiteman AFB Outdoor Pool, you will responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of swimmers and guests at a pool. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring water activities, enforcing safety rules, providing immediate assistance during emergencies, and offering first aid when necessary. Finally, you will assist in maintaining the pool and surrounding areas in accordance with established standards.

What does a typical day look like for the Lifeguard?

You will:

  • Continuously observe the swimming area to ensure the safety of patrons.
  • Ensure the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and that only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
  • Rescue swimmers in trouble, promptly administer first aid, and call for medical assistance if needed.
  • Perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operations of the swimming pool area to include, but not limited to:
    • Pool vacuuming.
    • Pool scrubbing.
    • Pool skimming (removing foreign objects from pool surface and bottom).
    • Disposing of trash in trash cans at the end of day or when the trash can is full.
    • Cleaning and sanitizing the pool deck, realigning deck chairs, and disposal of debris (empty water bottles, etc.) daily or as needed.
    • Clean bathroom facilities daily.
  • Conduct hourly water quality testing.
  • Add chemicals to pool water as appropriate and when directed by the Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Deal tactfully and courteously with customers, providing quality customer service.
  • Conduct four (4) hours of in-service training and Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Drills monthly.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the lifeguard we’re looking for if you have:

  • A current Lifeguard Training Certificate from a U.S. nationally certified agency such as the American Red Cross.
  • A current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification from a U.S. nationally certified agency such as the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Basic First-Aid Training.
  • Good physical health and ability to swim long distances, perform rescues, and meet fitness standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
  • Keen observation skills to detect potential hazards or dangerous situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other lifeguards, staff, and management.
  • The ability to pass a background check.
