So, what will the Physician at Terrestris do?

Big picture, we are seeking a dedicated Physician to join our team at Mount Weather, VA, to provide compassionate and expert medical care to patients, ensuring their well-being and maintaining operational readiness. Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center, operated by FEMA, is a critical facility designed to ensure the continuity of government operations during emergencies. This facility typically employs a range of medical professionals to address the health and safety needs of their occupants. This staff may include physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and other healthcare specialists trained to manage medical emergencies and provide routine care. These professionals are essential for maintaining the well-being of personnel during extended operations in secure environments.

What does a typical day look like for the Physician?

You will:

● Conduct thorough medical examinations, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans for patients.

● Provide patient education on disease prevention, health maintenance, and treatment options.

● Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to care.

● Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with Terrestris’ standards.

● Respond to medical emergencies and provide critical care as needed.

● Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.

● Facility operations may include a mix of outpatient and emergency settings.

● Rotational on-call duties may be required.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the Physician we’re looking for if you have:

● Minimum of 3 years of experience in primary care, emergency medicine, or related medical fields.

● Graduate of an accredited medical school with an MD or DO degree.

● Active and unrestricted medical license in Virginia.

● Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

● A valid DEA license.

● Strong decision-making abilities and a commitment to evidence-based care.

● Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.

● The ability to sit for more than 8 hours per day.

● A willingness to work overtime if necessary.

● The ability to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.

● The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and carry up to 10 feet.

● The ability to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.

● The ability to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.

● The ability to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.

● The ability to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.

● The ability to pass a criminal background investigation.

● The ability to pass urine drug screening (UDS), a Tuberculosis skin test and provide an up-to-date immunization record.
