So, what will the Center Director at Terrestris do?

As the Center Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of a Job Corps center, which provides education, vocational training, and support services to at-risk youth, helping them to build a successful future. This role requires strong leadership, management, and communication skills to ensure that the center meets its goals of helping students gain the necessary skills to thrive in their careers and communities.

What does a typical day look like for Center Director?

You will:

  • Oversee all aspects of the center’s daily operations, including student programs, staff, and services.
  • Lead and manage the center’s team, ensuring all employees are trained, motivated, and aligned with the center’s mission.
  • Ensure that the center operates within budgetary constraints and achieves its financial goals.
  • Implement policies and procedures to maintain a safe, productive, and compliant environment.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate educational, vocational, and life skills programs designed to meet the needs of the students.
  • Ensure programs are aligned with national Job Corps standards and local workforce needs.
  • Work with instructors, counselors, and other staff to monitor student progress and make adjustments to programs as necessary.
  • Foster partnerships with local employers, community organizations, and educational institutions to expand student opportunities.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate staff to ensure the quality of services provided to students.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Provide ongoing staff development and professional growth opportunities.
  • Address performance issues and handle employee relations matters in accordance with established policies.
  • Ensure students receive comprehensive support services, including academic assistance, career counseling, health services, and life skills coaching.
  • Monitor student behavior and intervene when necessary to maintain discipline and encourage success.
  • Collaborate with staff to provide job placement assistance, internships, and work-based learning experiences for students.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to Job Corps operations, including safety, health, and security.
  • Prepare and submit reports to local government agencies and Job Corps central office regarding student progress, center operations, and compliance audits.
  • Analyze performance data and implement improvements to meet performance targets.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Job Corps center and the local community.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, government agencies, community groups, and educational institutions to foster collaboration.
  • Represent the Job Corps program at community events and public forums, ensuring a positive image and reputation in the community.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, social work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in education, workforce development, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years in a management role.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of workforce development, youth services, and educational programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including at-risk youth.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Experience in program evaluation and data-driven decision-making.
