So, what will a mid level DoD IT Specialist at Terrestris do?

The Military-Civilian Transition Office (MCTO) requires programmatic research, analysis, assessments, product development, document drafting, recommendations, coordination, synchronization, and analytic support services for Service members preparing for their next step in life - whether pursuing an additional vocational trade or higher education, finding employment in the public or private sector, or starting their own business; or Reserve Component (RC) members and their families adjusting to pre- and post-activation, mobilization or deployment. MCTO designs cohesive, modular, outcome-based training, events and courses that bolsters and standardizes the opportunities, services, and training to promote effective and efficient support of transitioning Service members and members of the National Guard and Reserve, their families and communities worldwide.

What does a typical day look like for a mid level DoD IT Specialist?

You will:

  • Responsible for designing, configuring, installing, and maintaining LAN/WAN hardware and software which support file services, email, print services, web, data transport, and system administration as task lead, functional lead, or individual contributor.
  • Conducts compatibility tests on hardware and software; supervises contractors and conducts testing/certification of their work; provides technology training.
  • Supports technology planning, program development, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
  • Provides technical expertise in emerging technology areas.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the leader we’re looking for if you have:

  • Eligible for a Secret Security clearance.
  • 8 Years of previous IT management experience.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining IT systems, networks, and infrastructure.
  • Experience with IT project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Proficiency in various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Unix, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, security, and infrastructure.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Experience with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) processes and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with database management systems (DBMS) like SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.

  • An active Secret Security clearance.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
