We are seeking a System Security Administration (SSA) Team Lead to support the Accounting & Technology Section (ATS) for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This job is on-site at FBI facilities in the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA) / National Capital Region (NCR).

So, what will the System Security Administration (SSA) Team Lead Terrestris do?

As the SSA Team Lead will oversee a dedicated team of cybersecurity professionals and system administrators, ensuring the security, integrity, and functionality of critical information systems and technology infrastructure for the Accounting and Technology Section of the FBI.

What does a typical day look like for the System Security Administration (SSA) Team Lead?

You will:

  • Lead a team of SSA professionals to provide oversight, direction, and support in managing and securing FBI systems, networks, and technology.
  • Supervise team members, conduct performance reviews, and support professional development.
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication with other departments and stakeholders within the FBI.
  • Ensure all FBI information systems are secured in compliance with federal cybersecurity policies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of system security tools and technologies.
  • Conduct regular system audits and vulnerability assessments to identify security risks and recommend improvements.
  • Provide recommendations and implement strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Implement and manage security protocols, firewalls, access control measures, and encryption methods to protect sensitive information and critical systems.
  • Administer user access controls, including account creation, modification, and deactivation to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Coordinate response to security incidents, including identifying, mitigating, and preventing potential cyber threats.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, security measures, and incident reports.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal regulations, including FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) and NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) standards.
  • Provide reports and briefings on security status to senior FBI leadership and contribute to audits and inspections.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including other FBI departments, law enforcement agencies, and government entities, to promote system security awareness and ensure operational continuity.
  • Support the ATS in the development of security architecture and solutions for new technologies and initiatives.
  • Assist in training FBI personnel on security best practices and security-related incidents.
  • Stay current with cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to proactively enhance system security measures.
  • Develop and implement strategies to continually improve the performance, reliability, and security of FBI IT infrastructure.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the professional we’re looking for if you have:

  • The authorization to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • An active Top-Secret (TS) Clearance.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, or Science fields. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • A Minimum of five (5) years in InfoSec/IT Security related experience (2 years of FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) -related experience).
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with information security standards, policies and practices-NIST (800-53 rev), FISCAM, FISMA, DOD, DCID, FBI, etc.
  • Experience analyzing information technology and system risk issues in complex environments.
  • Experience in an IT customer support role, including working knowledge of account and access management. Experience managing a team of system security administrator personnel.

  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Comp TIA A+ certification.
