So, what will the Senior Technical Trainer at Terrestris do?

The vision for GPOI is to promote international peace and security by reinforcing the global commitment to achieve and sustain effectiveness in United Nations (UN) and regional peace operations. In support of this vision, the GPOI mission is to strengthen the effectiveness of UN and regional peace operations by enhancing partner countries’ capacities to prepare, deploy, and sustain peacekeepers and reinforcing UN and regional organizations’ performance and accountability frameworks.

Specifically, this role serves as an onsite support of the Team Lead’s principal trainer in conducting various peacekeeping-related contract training requirements and position new bureaus for long-term success with the application.

What does a typical day look like for the Senior Technical Trainer?

You will:

  • Plan and Conduct Command and Control
  • Plan a Reconnaissance including drones
  • Plan Patrols
  • Plan Casualty Evacuation
  • Plan Convoy Escort and Tactical Moves
  • Plan and Establish a Checkpoint (CP)
  • Plan and Conduct a Cordon and Search
  • Plan and Prepare a Base Defensive
  • Plan on Establish an Observation Post (OP)
  • Plan a Temporary Operating Base
  • Provide Support to Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR)
  • Plan Crowd Control and Reacting to Civil Disturbances
  • Plan Reinforcement
  • Plan the Execution of a Withdrawal and Evacuation
  • Plan Extractions and Offensive Operations
  • Assure Protection of Civilians

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the leader we’re looking for if you have:

  • The ability to speak French fluently
  • A minimum of 10 years of U.S. or NATO military experience including combat arms battalion/brigade staff officer experience on a U.S. or NATO military staff
  • Experience in armor, cavalry, engineer, field artillery, infantry, special forces, or special operations forces
  • Attainment of military grade of O3 and higher (or NATO equivalent)
  • Relevant military operations or foreign security force (police or military) capacity building experience in the last 5 years
  • Experience as a senior trainer, military or civilian, to a foreign security partner
  • Minimum of 15 cumulative years of U.S. or NATO military experience, including combat arms battalion/brigade staff officer experience on a U.S. or NATO military staff
  • Attainment of military grade of O4 and higher or NATO equivalent (Preferred)
  • Regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa (Preferred)
  • Battalion and/or brigade staff experience while deployed to a combat, peacekeeping, or other contingency operation (Preferred)
